Mar 10, 2018 #1 This was originally a custom built head from 2007, the first year of the updates to the Blackbird that included larger Mercury Magnetics transformers and circuit improvements. At 30 watts some call the Blackbird 30 a Deluxe Reverb on steroids - it holds together all the way up the volume knob - no "farting" out bass. Here's an amazing handwired 20 watt combo by Ben Fargen.This is an impressively loud 20 watter, especially with the super efficient Blackhawk alnico speaker. Beautiful Blackface tones, incredible dynamics, sensitivity, and note bloom. At 38 pounds, it's the perfect grab and go amp.
